Don't WINE about your stained glasses

So if you are like us, you enjoy wine. It's just a family tradition of ours to have a gathering where each of us brings a bottle to sample. We all practice our "Five S" - see, swirl, smell, sip, savor. However we discovered that there is a SIXTH S.

Yes, the unspoken sixth S is "stain". Those beautiful Riedel wine glasses look amazing as they sparkle with a few ounces of wine in the bottom of the glass. Once the glass is empty there is a glaring brown/red stain that has been building up over the last few tastings...even after being cleaned.

There is a trick to clean these stains. Since we don't offer dish cleaning services, we figured we'd divulge this tip (wink wink). Pour an ounce or two of vinegar in the glass, until the stain is covered. Let it soak for 30 minutes or so then wipe it out with a soft rag and warm water. The stain will be gone.

Then to prevent water specks, boil some water on the stove. Hold the bowl of the glass over the steam, then set it down to dry.
